Design Inspiration Monday

Geometric shapes, animal print, spots, and zig-zags.  So many patterns and such a dream.  It can be a little tricky when it comes to mixing different patterns in a room, but this delightful print mashup is perfect.  Matching a color or two from print to print will help with the flow and coordination of the patterns so that it won't end up an eyesore.  The cheery and playful colors add light and brightness to the space.  The neutral furniture pieces make it easy to change up the decor and complete look of the room without a huge investment.  I'm also seriously envious of that coffee table with the nail head trim...Looks like a potential future DIY project to me!  What is your favorite part of this living room?

Prints Play

I'm constantly drawn to prints and patterns, whether it's a basic black and white polka dot or an over-the-top neon floral and Aztec mash up.  They're everywhere, from clothing to home decor or nail art to iPhone wallpapers.  Fun and unique, as they can be, they can also inspire.  Here are some prints I'm currently gushing over.

Barbie-QT

Memorial Day Weekend.

I know.  I know.  You're super stoked to bring out the flowy-lightweight summer whites for this weekend's festivities-can't blame you after the horrific winter we've dealt with.  Unfortunately, if you're anything like me (clumsy and spill-prone), light colors are always a daring decision on the daily, with straying mustard splatter written all over that little white dress.  My foolproof fashion fix for the situation?  Go with colored prints, patterns or show your patriotic side with the classic red, white and blue.

Whether your weekend plans include a backyard BBQ, lounging by the pool, heading to a Jazz festival (fun fact: the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend is International Jazz Day), or hell, even partaking in a hot dog eating contest, these infallible looks will have people saying, "Grill, you look good.

Kentucky Derby Fashion

"If you don't wear a hat to the Kentucky derby, you'll feel like a woman who wears jeans to a little black dress party."-Sheila Nobles of C.K. Nobles, official millinery designer for the Kentucky Derby Museum at Churchill Downs.  Perch a hat on your head and prepare, Saturday is the day for the Mint Juleps, Southern Charm, and "The Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports."
