Design Inspiration Monday

With spring right around the corner, what better way to prepare than with a colorful floral wallpaper? What I really like about this powder room is how the designer kept everything else a simple white rather than pick a color in the wallpaper and use the same color to accessorize. With all the colors on the wall, the clean white keeps the room from looking childish and too matchey-matchey. The black and white abstract artwork adds a modern touch. It's girly and feminine but not completely over the top. Now, I'm not much of a morning person, but I might become one if I could enjoy this bathroom while I conquer my coffee and doll up for the day.

Design Inspiration Monday

A number of times, I've had someone ask how to decorate using birdcages. They'll find one they like, but aren't quite sure what to do with it. Usually, setting it on a mantle or coffee table and filling it with greenery or cute accessories are ways to incorporate birdcages in decor. What grabbed my attention about this living room is the chandelier housed in the birdcage. Such a cute and creative idea! Another aspect that drew me to this space is the mixing of patterns. Black and white polka dots are a classic print combination while the blue and purple carpet peaks whimsical interest. What do you think? How would you incorporate birdcages into decor?

Cinco in Style

Colorful, flamenco dancers, tacos, sangria, mariachi bands, and tropical cocktails with cute little umbrellas. Being a fan of all the above, Cinco de Mayo is basically a staycation-type holiday I look forward to every year. Not to mention, the Midwestern weather is typically warmer and more ideal to enjoy a margarita on a patio, officially announcing that nicer days are here to stay.
