Design Inspiration Monday

Have you ever laid eyes on a dreamier bathroom?!  The answer is maybe but probably not.  This space seriously looks like something straight out of a lodge resort, right? (and it very well could be).  The mixing of the large straight line tile with the rugged brick and stone gives a modern-chic, yet earthy-rugged vibe...almost like "I want to look pretty and cool without looking like I tried too hard."   Seems like the perfect space to unwind after a long day with a glass of wine in hand.  Well, maybe not a GLASS glass (unless you're a risk-taker) but you get the picture.

This reclaimed wood kitchen is adorable!  The black chairs contrast with the white bench, which is utilized in smaller kitchens or spaces.  The little potted plants and floral add some liveliness to the space.  My personal favorite part is the modern geometric chandelier mixed in with the rustic look of the kitchen.

Here are some similar chandeliers to shop:

Black, white and touches of copper.  This industrial-chic kitchen features open shelving, giving the small space a more open feel.  The exposed brick always draws me into a room and I love the contrast of a lighter brick with the black floors.  Also, I'm having some real oven envy over here because of those gold knobs.  What do you think about this kitchen?

Design Inspiration Monday

Whether it's an accent wall or entire room, what is there not to love about spotted walls?  This Thibaut Tanzania Wallpaper, Black on Cream, is a fresh, clean take on a leopard design.  The navy tufted headboard with nailhead trim proves navy and black can be done together with a chic outcome.  Also unconventional is a dresser used in place of a nightstand.  This bedroom would surely make a splendid space for out-of-town guests to enjoy.

This room.  The straight lines carry from the shape of the sofa to the lines on the rug.  The contrasting black and white is broken up with dark brown pieces mixed in.  The splash of color with the plum velvet accent chair is a pleasant surprise and doesn't draw attention away from the neutral flow of the room.  Also, my eyes almost instantly noticed that rose quartz colored pillow on the sofa and the faux cow head taxidermy on the wall.  I'm seriously obsessing over rose quartz and faux taxidermy right now...it may be a phase.  We'll see.  Moving on to the oversized bookcase, rustic reclaimed desk with the hutch.  Love how the faux fur on the chair at the desk makes more fun, cozier and less of a "work" space.

What's your favorite part of this room?

Monochrome color contrast.  Simply put, I swoon over dramatic, dark wall colors.  The combination with the white bedding is perfect.  The watercolor pattern on the lampshade and pillow add dimension and texture.  The rug adds the cozy feel.  The only part of the room I'm not too crazy about is the window treatment.  I probably would have preferred a white, ruffle curtain (unless you're trying to add a touch of masculinity to the room).  What is your take on this bedroom?

Design Inspiration Monday

A number of times, I've had someone ask how to decorate using birdcages.  They'll find one they like, but aren't quite sure what to do with it.  Usually, setting it on a mantle or coffee table and filling it with greenery or cute accessories are ways to incorporate birdcages in decor.  What grabbed my attention about this living room is the chandelier housed in the birdcage.  Such a cute and creative idea!  Another aspect that drew me to this space is the mixing of patterns.  Black and white polka dots are a classic print combination while the blue and purple carpet peaks whimsical interest.  What do you think?  How would you incorporate birdcages into decor?
