Fair Trade Fashion: Pankha Necklace

The Pankha Necklace is a Threads Worldwide exclusive handmade by our artisan partners in India.  Not only is it the perfect statement piece for fall, but every sale from the Pankha empowers the artisans to advance socially and economically, allowing them to send their children to schools rather than beg on the streets.

Back in June, the Threads Worldwide conference took place in Denver, CO.  The Fair Trade Partners that were there were able to have the first look at (and model!) the fall pieces.  Once the BIG REVEAL came, I immediately had my hands on the Pankha Necklace.  The fan-fringe detailing is huge right now and the gray-blue thread flawlessly falls into the neutral trend.  Bottom line, this necklace is a modern and fun must-have for fall-winter.

I'm totally crushing on the army print trend at the moment.  The Pankha favors greens like no other.  I paired the Pankha with another Threads Exclusive piece in this set, the Mangal Bracelet.  The Mangal is handmade in Guatemala, and let me tell you, this thing is gor-geous.

The perfect transitional outfit, a sundress and booties.  This look is featuring the Toluca Earrings.  Handmade by artisan partners in Mexico, the Toluca Earrings feature gold-toned brass pyramids on sterling-silver posts and are perfect for everyday wear.

blue diamond

One of the things I love most about a maxi is how versatile they can be.  There are so many different ways to layer, making them an easy transitional piece.  Most people may look at this dress and think it's strictly for spring or summer, with the slit sleeves and print.  Throwing on the fur vest, chocolate brown wool hat, and booties made it an easy go-to for fall.

We noticed my bag I had grabbed to throw all my junk in as I was running out the house was accidentally an almost identical print with some similar colors, so I had to add this photo on here...also because I look cool and it reminds me of a DSW ad.

DIY Halloween Costume

Inspired by one of my favorite movies of all time, Breakfast at Tiffany's, came my favorite costume of all time.  The ridiculously charming and sophisticated socialite, Holly Golightly, has been my go-to costume for the past few years.

Tuning in to your inner Ms. Golightly is pretty simple and can be created with things you probably already own.  Start with a black dress, black tank and skirt, or even a black tulle tutu.  Cat-eye sunglasses are a must, heels, the tiara and a glitzy statement necklace, possibly a pearl and rhinestone combination.  Black elbow-length gloves and a cigarette holder you can find at most costume stores.  Through the movie, Holly's orange tabby cat, Cat, plays a big role.  Cat was a fun addition to the costume (a toy cat, not real one).  Other optional accessories would be a lunch size paper bag with a croissant or danish of sorts, and an empty coffee shop style paper coffee cup.  Style your hair in a high bun, secure on your tiara and you've transformed in to Holly Golightly for the evening.

Do you have an all time favorite costume?  What do you plan on dressing as this year?

Have a Happy Halloween!

{Little piece of happiness:  My vintage Italian scarf}
Upon spotting this scarf at a thrift shop a few weeks ago, I immediately knew it had to be mine.  With a price tag of $4, there were no questions asked.  I adore the boxy Ikat mixed with the checkerboard circles, while the burnt orange and caramel tan make it a perfect fall accessory.

Fall Fashion Wish List

Cozy knits, ankle boots, and burgundy everything.

Free People, Floating Floral Romper
The mustard and fall floral of this romper has me swooning.  I would wear a pair of tights (probably burgundy), ankle boots, and maybe even my fur vest with it.

Cotton On, Petal Crew Neck Pullover
Cotton On has some of the most transitional pieces I have found.  Their clothes are comfortable and reasonably priced.  This sweater is the perfect lightweight knit around.

River Island, Wet Look Highwaist Legging
The leather look, I've been a fan of for some time now.  These leggings are perfect to throw on with an oversize sweater or kimono.

BB Dakota, Geller Jacket
Loving the sweater feel of this jacket and the tie rather than buttons.  So cute and easy to throw on running out the door.  Almost a robe-like feel, good for those gloomy, brisk mornings that make are hard to peel yourself out of bed in the first place.

BCBG Paris, Wyno Wedge Bootie
Cute and comfortable, what's not to love about wedges?  These wine colored BCBG with the gold chevron details on the zipper pull have me dying.  FALL MUST.

Madden Girl Shoes, Canyon Riding Boot
The visible zipper and chain.  The perfect "every day" boot.

Billabong, "Better Over Here" Panama Hat
Burgundy appears again.  Perfect to wear with black, grey, brown, any other neutrals.  Let the deep wine be your "pop" of color.

Coach, Small L-zip Wristlet in Ocelot Print Leather
I have a soft spot for leopard print and this wristlet was just too cute to say no to.  Just looking at it makes me happy.

H&M, Jacquard-weave Scarf
Dark teal has been a favorite for a few falls now, not to mention how awesome would it look paired with that burgundy?

Soup Season

Evidently, the average woman's favorite thing about fall is pumpkin everything.  MY favorite thing about fall: SOUP SEASON.  Soup, chili, stew...I seriously love soup form foods.  I even eat soup the summer, because I can (and I love it that much).  Here are some bowl and spoon requirement, cold weather recipes that I'm excited to get all chef-mode with this fall and winter:
