Design Inspiration Monday

Most homes are centered around the kitchen, since it is typically the room with all the action.  Not only is it used for preparing and cooking food, but also entertaining guests and family meals.  Rustic decor looks like its been around for centuries.  The distressed worktable with casters makes it simple to move it as needed.  Unpolished silver on the walls and open shelving flawlessly suit the rustic design.

Shoesday Tuesday

No, it's not too late in the season to purchase a pair of espadrilles.  Especially when they're gold, glittery, and on sale!  Be still my beating heart.  These Kate Spade 'Lolana Flats' are reduced to $116 from $178.  Impossible to imagine living in a different pair of flats for the rest of summer.

Design Inspiration Monday

A number of times, I've had someone ask how to decorate using birdcages.  They'll find one they like, but aren't quite sure what to do with it.  Usually, setting it on a mantle or coffee table and filling it with greenery or cute accessories are ways to incorporate birdcages in decor.  What grabbed my attention about this living room is the chandelier housed in the birdcage.  Such a cute and creative idea!  Another aspect that drew me to this space is the mixing of patterns.  Black and white polka dots are a classic print combination while the blue and purple carpet peaks whimsical interest.  What do you think?  How would you incorporate birdcages into decor?

Shoesday Tuesday

Neutral with the right amount of fringe makes this bootie a perfect transitional wardrobe staple.  Show them off with a flowy knee-length dress in summer or cuffed jeans and a sweater in fall.  Currently part of Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale (for only $110), I'm seriously resisting the urge to buy a pair in all 4 colors.

Design Inspiration Monday

This ultra glamorous loft living room in Vancouver is the epitome of luxe.  Industrial style is made chic with the dramatic, dazzling chandelier and classic tufted sofa.  White, black and grey as the color palette creates an elegant contrast with the brick industrial elements of the room.
