Design Inspiration Monday

Black, white and touches of copper.  This industrial-chic kitchen features open shelving, giving the small space a more open feel.  The exposed brick always draws me into a room and I love the contrast of a lighter brick with the black floors.  Also, I'm having some real oven envy over here because of those gold knobs.  What do you think about this kitchen?

This photo unfortunately came from Tumblr, so the source is unknown.

{whatever wednesday}

Easter weekend is upon us!  Time to get ready for Easter brunch, Peeps, bunnies, chickies, bonnets and dresses, Starburst Jelly Beans, and my personal favorite:  the day after candy sale!  Also, I'm attending my FIRST Adult Easter Egg Hunt this year, which I'm pretty stoked about.  I'm sure there will be photos grammed and Snapchats a plenty, so you can follow the fun there.  I just started Snapchat for the 5th time, so you can follow me at flamingo314 if you're a Snapchatter as well.  I will warn you that I'm new, so my snapping skills are still at a beginner level.  On to this week's {whatever wednesday} of gold eggs, pretty pastel desserts, and Easter style libations.  Hippity hop, hope you have a wonderful Easter Weekend!

Metallic wallpaper, pretty please!  This ultra feminine staircase nook looks so pretty and peaceful with the ladylike blue hues, gold, silver, and antique furniture.  Because of the reflection, metallic wallpapers will brighten a space and is visually pleasing all around.  What do you think about metallic wallpaper?

Design Inspiration Monday

With spring right around the corner, what better way to prepare than with a colorful floral wallpaper?  What I really like about this powder room is how the designer kept everything else a simple white rather than pick a color in the wallpaper and use the same color to accessorize.  With all the colors on the wall, the clean white keeps the room from looking childish and too matchey-matchey.  The black and white abstract artwork adds a modern touch.  It's girly and feminine but not completely over the top.  Now, I'm not much of a morning person, but I might become one if I could enjoy this bathroom while I conquer my coffee and doll up for the day.

Since yesterday was International Women's Day, you'll find a quote from an inspirational woman on this {whatever wednesday}, along with fast hairstyles, currently coveting shoes, sweet treats, and spring time sips.

Whether it's an accent wall or entire room, what is there not to love about spotted walls?  This Thibaut Tanzania Wallpaper, Black on Cream, is a fresh, clean take on a leopard design.  The navy tufted headboard with nailhead trim proves navy and black can be done together with a chic outcome.  Also unconventional is a dresser used in place of a nightstand.  This bedroom would surely make a splendid space for out-of-town guests to enjoy.

Local Love: Gramophone

Nestled in a little eclectic area of St. Louis called the Grove is a place called The Gramophone.  About a year ago, The Gramophone closed its doors as a concert venue, remodeled, and reopened as a tavern and sandwich shop.  They specialize in premium subs and an extensive drink list, but what jumped out at me while scrolling through Yelp food pics was this concoction referred to as the "Bloody Island".

It's not your typical "sit down and be served" style service.  Everything is ordered at the bar.  Rickey and I grabbed a table, debated between a few delicious sounding sandwiches, and made our final decisions.  He went with the Reuben while I decided on the Cold Smoked Salmon.  Still unsure of this whole bloody sandwich thingy, I asked the super friendly bartender about it.  He said, "It's called the 'Bloody Island' and you choose half of any sandwich that you want served on top of a Bloody Mary."  SOLD!  Cold Smoked Salmon Bloody Island it was.  While we waited, I felt like a little kid in a candy shop...or, er...sandwich shop.  The anticipation of this Bloody Island was killing me.  There was a pool table, pinball, old school arcade games, fun stuff.  Also, since it was a Saturday, there was an acoustic set playing which was quite enjoyable for a little weekend day outing.

THEN THE BLOODY ISLAND APPEARED:

Garnishes on point and no idea about a plan of attack.

One hell of a bloody sandwich island paradise, if ya ask me.

Since we're all about supporting local, and St. Louis is filled with macro breweries, micro breweries, basically all sorts of places with thirst quenching beers flowing at all times, I thought this Drink Local wall art using the Arch as the draft was so clever!  Nice supporting local touch!

Although I didn't snap a pic of Rickey's Reuben, he mentioned that it was one of the best sandwiches he's had, washed down with a Civil Life Brown Ale as you can see in the photo. #supportlocal

Throughout the neighborhood of the Grove, coffee shops, hair salons, boutiques, restaurants and bars that draw a huge nightlife crowd, so while you're in the area, stay awhile and adventure around.  You could also go on a mini daytime bar crawl like we did.

What are some of your favorite local sandwich shops?

{whatever wednesday}

It's time for another {whatever wednesday}!  This week showcases the sweetest moment of the 2016 Oscars, hot hairstyles for spring, an entryway that makes me green with envy, sparkles and flamingos (see what I did there?!), and an appetizer to try this weekend!  Have a wonderful Wednesday! :)

If you missed it, Chris Rock sold Girl Scout cookies at the Oscar's to help raise money for his daughter's troop.  With help from the stars, the troop earned $65,000 from cookie sales.  Can we just award Chris Rock 'Dad of the Year' right now?
